Top 5 winter must haves

You ladies ready for another blog entry?! (YAAAYYY! Cue the applause!)
Here's another one of my must haves lists. This one is a little different, it will only be my top 5 and will have clothing and beauty products on it. This list will differ (obviously) from each girl, but these are the ones that I think are winter must haves. I may make a video of this one if anyone would like to see it, just let me know in the comments section! J

  1. Number 1 on my list is a lip butter/ chapstick. I personally like any of the ones in the Nivea line. Pearly Shine, Milk and Honey and the Kiss of Smoothness are my favorite ones. I also like using vaseline when my lips get REALLY dry, this is a lifesaver. Just apply this liberally before bed and your lips are kissably smooth. Another favorite of mine is the EOS lipbalms that come in the weird circle cases (ya’ll know what I’m talking about). I personally like the melon, mint and I think it’s strawberry I can’t really remember what it is haha.
  2. This one isn't a beauty product but I feel like it's a necessity for the winter months up here in Canada. Scarves. Any type of scarf works but I am absolutely in love with big chunky infinity scarves. The smaller the circle the closer it will be around your neck which keeps in extra warmth. I like neutral colors like black, white and grey because they go with anything, but I also like a statement color to really tie an outfit together.

Makeup essentials

So here's my list of my top 10 makeup essentials. These items are what I think you ladies need to have in your makeup collection. There's tons and tons and tons of different types of makeup that you want or need in your collection, but here's my top 10 that I think every girl should have in her kit.

  1. Waterproof Mascara- Now this is an obvious one. Make sure that when you are selecting this mascara you get a couple bottles of your favorite one. I know what you're thinking, "but it costs like $14/ bottle" I know, I know. But think about it. If you spend that money now and keep an extra in your kit then you won't have to spend that money later, plus when it runs out you don't have to rush to the store to pick some up. I don't know how many times that's happened to me but it is very annoying, also find a good waterproof mascara for those hot days and if you're having a crying fit and/ or tearing up from a good movie. (This one is a girls' best friend)
  2. Good foundation/ coverup- This is a must have in your makeup kit. Now finding the right foundation/ coverup is a difficult task. (Check out my 'What to look for when buying coverup/ foundation' post). http://makeupwithnatt.blogspot.ca/2013/11/what-to-look-for-when-buying-coverup.html
  3. Eyeliner- You want to have a gel eyeliner/ liquid liner to make those beautiful cat eye looks that everyone loves so much. Having both is a good option in my opinion. Both of these give a different look depending on what style you're going for. Gel eyeliner can create a more thick style look because you're using a brush. If you're using a liquid liner this one varies in thickness depending on the style of the brush that it comes with and how you apply it.

Best eyeshadow for your eye color

 Hello there again ladies!
So, I'm sorry it's been awhile since I've posted an entry I have been super busy with working 2 jobs and just getting into the new routine. I'll try and post entries either on my days off or when I'm not working evenings. Gotta keep you ladies coming to my blog! Haha

Now, this is a tough one to decide on when picking an eyeshadow color. Most girls go for their favorite brand or what the prettiest eyeshadow colors are.
Here's a list of the different eye colors and what eyeshadows work best with them.

Blue- This eye color looks best with warm brown, taupe and peach colors. For eyeliner either taupe or brown work best and will bring out your eyes more.
Green- Your eye color looks best with gold, peach and violet colors. Taupe, purple and reddish brown eyeliners look best with this eye color.
Brown/ Hazel- You ladies with brown/ hazel eyes are lucky, you can pull off pretty much any color. Purple, green, blue, gold and charcoal all look good with your eye color, so go ahead, try different colors and experiment with them! Black, taupe and purple eyeliner look best with this eye color.
Grey- If you're one of those girls that has that interesting grey color you can wear charcoal, purple and light brown colors and it will set off your grey perfectly. Black and dark brown eyeliner looks best for you ladies.

So there you have it, go out and get some eyeshadows for your specific eye color and experiment with them. I hope this guide helps you ladies choose those colors for those beautiful eyes of yours. XOXO Happy shopping! :)

What to look for when buying coverup/ foundation

Hey ladies!
I'm going to go a bit off topic today and go over what you should look for when trying to find the perfect coverup/ foundation.
I know it can be overwhelming when you go into either a drugstore or a highend makeup store and have no idea where to start. Well you can ask one of the girls working at the store to help you, but sometimes they aren't very good at helping you out. They don't give you any advice on the type of coverup/ foundation you're buying, the shade is off, the consistency sucks, or many other problems. Now I'm not saying they can't help you, this is just my experience when walking into one of the stores. Now here's my personal list of what to look for when choosing a coverup/ foundation.
  1. Color- Make sure it is the right shade and tone for your skin color. There are so many different colors out there for foundation. When testing a foundation don't test it on your hand or jaw line. I know this is where everyone says to test it but it is wrong. You want to test the color on your chest. I know what you’re thinking, why would I test the foundation on my chest. Think about it though, your chest doesn’t see the light of day half the year (especially if you live somewhere that doesn’t get a lot of sun) so it’s lighter than your face which gets sun almost every day. Remember, even on cloudy days your skin is getting sunlight so don’t forget that SPF!
  2. Type- Yes there are many different types of coverup/ foundation. Ones with SPF, ones that claim to be anti-aging and ones that are good for acne. Now you should always have either a primer with SPF in it or your foundation with SPF, don’t want to have those wrinkles when you’re older. You want to have glowing beautiful skin! Now there’s liquid foundation, powder foundation, cream foundation, tinted moisturizer, spray foundation, and cake or stick foundation. Now I know that’s an overwhelming amount of foundation and can be confusing when you’re trying to figure out which foundation to choose from. Now it’s all about a personal preference and I don’t really use any foundation but a concealer and powder. I try the more natural approach. Now let’s go more into detail with the different foundation types.

Girls' Night Out

Hey ladies! Sorry it's taking so long to upload a video on youtube. I've been a little busy and have no idea what to film! I'll figure it out and post one within the next couple days. It's going to be odd talking to myself and recording it and then posting it on youtube for everyone to see, BUT I will do it! Haha. For now I'll just post another evening look for a girls' night out or for just a night out.

  • You're going to prime your face and apply your foundation, concealer, cover up and powder like you regularly do.
  • Apply your bronzer to your temples, along the sides of your nose, along your hairline, jaw line and then make the fish face and apply it in the crook of your cheeks. Take your favorite blush and apply this to the apples of your cheeks. and apply a higlight on your brow bone, along the bridge of your nose, your cupid's bow (the spot that dips on your lips), in a triangle on your forehead, on your cheekbones above where you apply your blush,  and on your chin.
  • Next fill in your brows using the gel, pencil or whatever it is you like to use for your brows.
  • You'll then take your eyeshadow primer and apply this all over your lid. Then choose a light brown eyeshadow, I just used one from my e.l.f makeup palette and applied this allover my lid then took a darker brown shadow and applied it to my crease and outer corner of my eye.

Evening makeup look

So, here's the next entry to my blog!!
This one is sorta like an everyday look or a going out look it's totally up to you!

1. We're going to start off by priming our face and applying our usual foundation, concealer, powder, contour, highlight and blush.

2. Next fill in your eyebrows as you usually would, don't make them too dramatic in this one cause you just want a casual makeup look!

Leopard Makeup

Well, here's the second makeup entry I did, the Leopard makeup!

1. Start off with priming your face and then apply your usual concealer, cover up and powder.

2. Take your brow pencil/ gel/ powder and apply this to your eyebrows making it dramatic and bigger than your normal brows.

3. Next your going to apply primer to your eyes and then take a brown eyeshadow (I used a shimmery dark brown from my e.l.f palette). You're going to apply this color all over your eye.

4. Next take a black/ dark brown eyeshadow and your crease brush and brush it in a C shape on the outer corner of your eye and across your crease making sure to blend it out.

5. Once you've applied your eyeshadow take either a gel liner or liquid liner and apply this to your inner eye make a V shaped tear drop. Then extend this to a dramatic wing on the outer corner of your eye. Remember longer is better.

Vampire Diaries inspired Elena/ Katherine makeup

Well, here it is AGAIN,
Elena/ Katherine inspired Vampire diaries Halloween makeup look.
So, although I don't have the pictures of the steps I will try to go through it with as much detail as I can and maybe add follow along pictures.

Step 1. You're going to start off with priming your face. This will hold your makeup in place for that long night of partying and drunkeness you have ahead of you.

2. Next you're going to use whatever concealer you use (make sure it's a little lighter than your skin tone) and cover up any blemishes you have. Vampires have perfect skin (lucky them).

3. Then you're going to take that same concealer and put it all over your face and blend it in. You don't need a ton of it just use it sparingly we don't want any cake faces.

4. Take a light powder and dust it over your face and neck making sure to blend. BLEND BLEND BLEND. (Key word here is blend)
